Crest Hill's Current Water Supply

Crest-Hill-Water-Tower-2-Jpeg-e1542728733529

We are aware of residents' concerns for Crest Hill's current water supply in light of Joliet's water supply discussions. We would like to provide the following information regarding the status of Crest Hill's water:

Crest Hill relies on a shallow well aquifer which is rapidly replenished with rainwater. Joliet relies on the deep sandstone aquifer, which is being depleted at a much faster rate than it can be replenished

Our shallow wells are not in any immediate danger of depletion

Our water continues to meet regulatory requirements for quality and quantity, and we will continue to monitor it for future compliance

The City is participating in regional conversations with Joliet and other local communities and continues to address and monitor the situation with City Council. We are looking at both the short-term and long-term needs of the City and weighing the cost impact to the residents so we can make the most informed decision.

If you would like more information, please reach out to the City of Crest Hill Public Works Department at 815-741-5108.
