Crest Hill Celebrates The Bicentennial Of Illinois

Sunday, December 3, 2017 marked the 199th birthday of the state of Illinois. It was on this day in 1818 that Illinois became the 21st state in the union. To celebrate, Governor Bruce Rauner has initiated a statewide 365-day celebration to commemorate this occasion. Therefore, every county and municipality raised the Illinois Bicentennial Flag at noon on Monday, December 4.

The Illinois Bicentennial will remind us all that, every day in Illinois, amazing things are BORN, BUILT & GROWN and it will honor the many ways that Illinois has influenced American history, achievement, culture, innovation, and more. This momentous occasion is a once-in-a-lifetime invitation to fall in love with Illinois all over again as well as inspire pride in Illinois and show the world what makes this state so great.

The City of Crest Hill hopes you will take the next year to focus on this celebration and encourage those to participate in the yearlong celebration by submitting applications for endorsement of their events and projects by Illinois Bicentennial on the PARTICIPATE page at
