This is a public alert of a construction project starting along Route 30 (Plainfield Road) and adjacent properties/streets.
As part of the ongoing infrastructure maintenance efforts, the City has contracted with Sheridan Plumbing & Sewer, Inc. to clean and install a structural lining inside the City’s existing water main. Sheridan is teaming with Fer Pal Construction USA LLC, who will be installing a temporary water supply to affected properties.
Residents are being notified that during the week of June 26th, the contractor will begin delivering equipment and materials along with installing traffic control and stormwater protection measures. The city is still working with the contractor to finalize the overall construction schedule. The timeframe to complete this project is Fall of 2023.
In order to proceed with this work, portions of Route 30 will be excavated, plated and blocked off. Impacts to residential and business driveways will be inevitable but kept to a minimum when possible. No holes will be left open during non-working hours. During working hours, the number of lanes opened will be reduced to one for northwest bound traffic. Left turn movements for all traffic will be restricted during the entire construction project.
Local traffic will have access to their properties during both working and non-working hours . The Contractor may install “No Parking Signs” along side streets where necessary. These signs will be installed a minimum of 2 days in advance.

During the construction period, the existing water main and your water service will be temporarily by-passed. Your property will receive water through an above ground temporary piping network. A commercial water hose will connect the temporary water system to your building. Where the temporary pipe crosses a driveway, the pipe will be covered with fine asphalt millings, creating a temporary ramp so you will still have vehicular access to your property. You will receive notifications with further details regarding the temporary water supply and scheduling of service interruptions closer to the time when this temporary changeover will occur.
We will do our best to keep this project moving forward. We are also working on providing information to the public at key times during the project schedule to minimize any surprises.
